out of the closet

At the age of seven, übernerdling Tania wrote a love poem to the planet Saturn, and since then her nerdiness has done nothing but grow. She's currently studying a combined degree in chemical engineering and physics at the University of Newcastle, and when her zineish output is prolific then you know she's doing a lot of procrastination from her uni work.

In the past she's worked stints as a crane driver, a forklift driver, an aluminium casting operator, a process engineer, a university tutor and a researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Washington, DC. Right now she's doing some work with the Newmag experiment which is on board the Australian satellite Fedsat - the first Australian satellite to be launched in 30 years. In November she will get on a ship in Hobart and go to Davis Base in Antarctica, where she will spend ten weeks setting up some scientific equipment for the University of Newcastle. So much for her summer holidays at the beach.

Twirling fire, doing geometric origami, learning icelandic, traveling around, and doing nerdling zine is the stuff that makes her go 'woo'.

Taking the literary world by... well, a mild drizzle at least: one of her stories has appeared in the brand spanking new anthology published by Cardigan Press, to be launched on the 26th of August this year. Another of her stories has recently been turned into an interactive flash movie by the talented people at SBS Cornerfold Magazine.
